ISA and Inspections

Annan School is a member of the Independent Schools Association. Membership of the ISA means that the school can display the mark of quality assurance in independent education.

All ISA schools encourage pupils to make the most of their talents, building confidence through academic achievement and offering a wide range of extra-curricula opportunities. The ISA has over 500 members and offers support and advice to headteachers as well as organising inter-school events on a regional and national level. Headteachers can become members of the ISA only if their schools meet the highest standards.

Annan is inspected every three years by The Independent Schools Inspectorate. Our most recent inspection in February 2020 was a full regulatory compliance and Educational Quality Inspection. We were found to be fully compliant in all areas and was awarded a grade of ‘Excellent’ for pupil’s personal development and a grade of ‘Good’ for the quality of pupils academic and other achievements.

The Inspectors commented on the pupils being “enthusiastic, engaged learners because the creative curriculum allows them to develop their interest and knowledge”
