Creativity…
Our imaginations and curiosity have been inspired. We have discovered and explored our ideas in detail, gaining skills and knowledge. Now we are ready to Create!! All round the school children are making exciting creations. There are shields and happiness spells, little people for long boats and iron age forts, clay pots, sewing and crochet, Victorian dioramas and zoetropes to name but a few.
Being creative isn’t all about making. It can be about thinking creatively. Creativity is a mindset that allows children to solve problems, take risks and follow an inner passion a set of skills and tools anyone can develop.
Discovering new ways to solve a maths problem. Dealing with challenging social situations that result in a positive outcome. Planning school events such as celebrations and fundraisers. Expressing personality through their appearance
and individuality.
When students are focused on a creative goal, they become more absorbed in their learning and more driven to acquire the skills they need to accomplish it.
When children are encouraged to express their creativity in school, they develop a creative mindset in all areas of life. They learn to think outside the box, which will help them create a life that suits them instead of following others. They are the future thinkers, problem solvers and creative designers who will create their own jobs, solve world problems and be able and willing to adapt and change.
We like to think this is what we are supporting children at Annan to do.

“My contention is that creativity now is as important in education as literacy, and we should treat it with the same status.” Sir Ken Robinson
